I have always loved to look at the world through the lens of mathematics and science.
When I was an undergrad at the University of Oregon, I took as many math classes as
I could, including several graduate courses, such as Abstract Algebra and Differential
Equations.
During my graduate studies at Pacific University, I explored a variety of teaching
methods, including interactive software, group discussions, and hands-on exploration. I take
great joy in sharing my own fascination with math and science, and it was especially rewarding
to bring it to a group setting in addition to the more familiar one on one setting of tutoring.
Some of my most rewarding work has been consulting and teaching homeschooling families, because
of the high level of student involvement. For me, glimpsing that "aha" moment as a student's face lights
up with understanding is what makes it all worthwhile.
